Gokyo Lakes Trek - 15 days | Everest gokyo lake trek : Himalayan Smile trek
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350 m)
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be received at the
airport and then transferred to your hotel in Thamel. Spend the day exploring
the city, preparing gear, and meeting your trekking guide for a detailed
briefing. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Fly to Lukla (2,840m) then trek to Phakding
(2,610m)
Take a dramatic 30-minute mountain flight to Lukla, the
gateway to the Khumbu region. After meeting up with the porter, start your
gentle trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River, passing Sherpa villages and mani
walls. Arrive in Phakding within about 3–4 hours.
Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)
Today's trail crosses several suspension bridges, including
the famous Hillary Bridge. Enter Sagarmatha National Park, and begin a long
uphill climb to Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital. Overnight in Namche
Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Namche
Acclimatize to the altitude with an easy hike to either
Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village. Take in spectacular panoramic views of
Everest, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. Later in the day, visit bakeries, cafes,
and local markets in Namche.
then cross over the snout of the Ngozumpa Glacier, passing
the first and second Gokyo Lakes en route to the third and largest, Gokyo Lake,
beside which the village sits beautifully on turquoise waters.
Day 5: Trek to Dole (4,200 m)
From Namche, climb a ridge and then continue on an
attractive trail to Mong La. Descend briefly and then climb again through
rhododendron and birch forests to Dole. Overnight at a mountain lodge.
Day 6: Trek to Machhermo (4,470 m)
A short and pleasant day of trekking. Continue upwards in a
gradual manner, crossing yak pastures with great views of Cho Oyu. Arrive in
Machhermo with plenty of time to rest and rehydrate.
Day 7: Trek to Gokyo (4,790 m)
Climb steadily along the valley, cross the snout of the
Ngozumpa Glacier, and pass by the first and second Gokyo Lakes before reaching
the largest and third lake, Gokyo Lake, which is beautifully situated by
turquoise waters.
Day 8: Hike Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) and Explore Lakes
Hike up Gokyo Ri before sunrise for one of the best
viewpoints in the Everest region. At the top, you'll catch views of Everest,
Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and the massive glacier below. You will have the
afternoon free to explore the fourth and fifth lakes, returning to Gokyo by
nightfall.
Day 8: Hike Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) and Explore Lakes
Hike to Gokyo Ri for one of the best viewpoints in the
Everest region, starting before sunrise. This viewpoint offers views of
Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and the huge glacier down below. In the
afternoon, take time to visit the fourth and fifth lakes before heading back
down to Gokyo.
Day 9: Trek to Thangnak (4,700 m)
Walk across glacial terrain toward Thangnak. It's a short
day to prepare for the next day's early start. Overnight in Thangnak.
Day 10: Trek back to Dole
Retrace your path across rugged landscapes, pressing down
steadily toward the greener trails of Dole.
Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Return via the Mong La ridge to Namche, with time for hot
showers, bakeries, and a relaxed evening.
Day 12: Trek to Lukla
Make your way down through forests and over suspension
bridges as you complete your loop to Lukla. Celebrate a successful trek.
Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu
Morning flight to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel and free
time for shopping or sightseeing.
Day 14: Free day in Kathmandu
Optional valley tour: Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Patan
Durbar Square, or Bhaktapur. A buffer day in case of flight delays.
Day 15: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your journey home.
