The Dhampus Trek is among the most accessible short treks with panoramic views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre ranges near Pokhara in Nepal. It suits beginners, families, and trekkers who want a short adventure devoid of difficult terrain.

Day 1: Pokhara →Phedi → Dhampus (1,650 m)

The trek typically begins with a short drive from Pokhara to Phedi, which takes around 30-45 minutes. From Phedi, one climbs on stone steps through lush forests and terraced fields. The climb is moderately steep but scenic. After about 2-3 hours of trekking, one reaches Dhampus--a traditional Gurung village famous for its warm hospitality and dramatic views of the Himalayas. Most trekkers spend their evening wandering around the village, enjoying sunset views, and relaxing in a local teahouse.

Day 2: Dhampus → Australian Camp → Kande → Pokhara

From Dhampus, the trek continues upward in a gentle slope to Australian Camp (2,100 m) in about 1.5–2 hours. This viewpoint offers one of the best close-up panoramas of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. After breakfast or tea at the camp, you descend toward Kande, passing through a mix of forest and open ridge trails that take about 1–1.5 hours. A drive from Kande takes about 30–40 minutes back to Pokhara by afternoon.
