                   Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek – 16-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer to a five-star hotel. Evening briefing with the trek leader and welcome dinner featuring Nepali cuisine.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Trek Preparation

Guided tour to UNESCO World Heritage Sites that include Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath. Final equipment check and preparation.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2,840m) & Trek to Phakding (2,610m)

Take a spectacular 30-minute flight to Lukla. Begin a leisurely 3–4 hour trek through the Sherpa villages and on to Phakding. Overnight in a luxury lodge offering upgraded amenities.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Gradual ascent through pine forests and across suspension bridges. Enter Sagarmatha National Park, then climb the famous Namche Hill. Rest in a premium lodge with heated rooms and en-suite bathrooms.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Namche

Short hike to the Everest View Hotel for mountain panorama views. The group will visit Sherpa museums and cafes. Return to Namche's luxury lodge.

Day 6: Trek to Deboche (3,820m)

Walk through rhododendron forests, passing Tengboche Monastery. Continue to Deboche for quieter, more comfortable accommodation.

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche (4,410m)

Gradual ascent over open valleys with great views of Ama Dablam. Stay at a higher standard lodge with good insulation and upgraded bedding.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

Optional trek to Nangkartsang Peak (5,083m) for acclimatization and beautiful views of Makalu. Afternoon rest.

Day 9: Lobuche (4,910m) Trek

Pass the memorial area at Thukla that honors climbers. Arrive for the night at Lobuche.

Day 10: Trek to Gorak Shep (5,164m) & Everest Base Camp (5,364m)

The major highlight, head to Gorak Shep and drop off the bags, then trek to Everest Base Camp. Return to Gorak Shep for the night.

Day 11: Climb Kalapatthar (5,545m) & Trek to Pheriche (4,240m)

Early-morning hike to the best viewpoint of Everest. Descent to Pheriche for comfortable lodging.

Day 12: Trek to Namche Bazaar

Enjoy easier downhill terrain. Celebrate with good food and warm showers in Namche.

Day 13: Trek to Lukla

Final trekking day. Dinner with your guides and porters.

Day 14: Fly to Kathmandu

Transfer back to your luxury hotel to rest or take spa time.

Day 15: Kathmandu Leisure Day

Shopping, massage, or cultural tours, as desired.

Day 16: Departure

Transfer to the airport.

The Constituent Assembly has finally been dissolved after four years in existence and a date has been set for the election of a new one. There is great public disappointment that the political process that started with the coming together of the Maoist party and non-Maoist parties in 2005 in New Delhi failed to deliver on its mandate. There are a number of areas that will require attention. First, the failure has made it clear that leaders across party lines lack the ability to work together and reach compromise, even though they have been working together for over five years. They continued to hurl acrimonious statements and maintained hard-line positions to the very end and failed to prevent a major crisis. There is a danger here that Nepalis will harbour resentment towards fellow Nepalis with opposing political views and blame one another for blocking the constitution.
