The Annapurna Sunrise Trek, frequently referred as the Poon
Hill Sunrise Trek is one of Nepal’s well-renowned short treks in Himalaya. It
is renowned for its stunning sunrise views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri
mountain ranges, being near to Pokhara city and easy for beginners as well as
families.
Cost Overview
The price for the trip ranges depending on level of service,
group size and season. A standard package would be a typical 4-6 day trip and
have a price point of around USD 400-600 per person, including but not limited
to permits (ACAP and TIMS), transportation in Pokhara, food for the duration of
the trek, basic accommodation at tea-houses, guide & porter services.
A nicer or more private package will cost $800–1,000 per
person with better accommodations, private transportation, and perhaps other
features. The trek is possible as independent for inevitable budget trekker
starting at least USD 25–40 per day Food, accommodation and necessary permit
but still it is not recommended to trekk alone without the guide who helps on
trail navigation, care & safety and local information.
Sample 5-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Pokhara to Nayapul /Ulleri
Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and begin trekking through villages and terraced
farmland. A steep stone staircase leads to Ulleri for the night.
Day 2: Ulleri to Ghorepani
A scenic climb through dense rhododendron and oak forests brings you to the
beautiful village of Ghorepani.
Day 3: Ghorepani /Poon Hill Sunrise /Tadapani
Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) for stunning sunrise views. After
returning to Ghorepani, trek through forests toward Tadapani.
Day 4: Tadapani to Ghandruk
Descend to the culturally rich Gurung village of Ghandruk, offering excellent
mountain views and cultural experiences.
Day 5: Ghandruk to Nayapul / Pokhara
A final descent to the trailhead and drive back to Pokhara.
