The Tilicho Lake Trek is a spectacular extension of the Annapurna Circuit, bringing trekkers to one of the highest lakes anywhere in the world at an altitude of 4,919 meters. Known for dramatic landscapes, Tibetan-influenced culture, and towering Himalayan peaks, this trek is ideal for adventurous trekkers looking for a rewarding challenge. Below is a well-paced 12-day itinerary.

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar and continue to Chame at 2,670 meters.

Road transfer via Marsyangdi Valley to Besisahar, then by jeep to Chame-gateway to the higher Annapurna region. Scenic views of waterfalls and lush hillsides.

Day 2: Chame to Pisang (3,300 m)

Follow along a forested trail with dramatic rock formations, including the Paungda Danda cliff. The trail opens up into alpine scenery as you continue upwards before Pisang village.

Day 3: Pisang to Manang (3,540 m)Take the high path via Ghyaru and Ngawal for spectacular views of Annapurna II, III, and Tilicho Peak, then arrive in Manang, which is the cultural and administrative center for this region.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Manang

Explore the village, visit monasteries, or head to Gangapurna Lake. Proper acclimatization must be done before proceeding to higher elevations.

Day 5: Manang to Khangsar (3,734 m)

Walk through cultivated fields and Tibetan-style villages to reach Khangsar, known as the “Last Village of Nepal” on this route.

Day 6: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4,150 m)

Narrower and rougher, the trail approaches the base camp. Cross slopes that are prone to rockfall and enjoy striking views of glaciers and towering peaks.

Day 7: Explore Tilicho Lake (4,919 m) and return to base camp or Khangsar

Start early for the 3–4 hour climb to Tilicho Lake. The lake is a highlight of the trek, framed by icy ridges and massive peaks. After exploring, either descend back to Base Camp or continue further to Khangsar.

Day 8: Khangsar to Yak Kharka (4,050 m)

Follow the Main Annapurna trail and trek uphill to Yak Kharka, a popular stop for acclimatization before Thorong La Pass.

Day 9: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,550 m)

A short but steady climb leads to Thorong Phedi, the base of the famous Thorong La Pass.

Day 10: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (3,760 m) via Thorong La Pass (5,416 m)

start before dawn to cross one of the world's highest trekking passes: Thorong La. Watch the sunrise and enjoy the breathtaking views before descending down to the sacred pilgrimage site Muktinath.

 Day 11: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720 m)

Pass through desert-like landscapes and windy valleys onto Jomsom, a hub for flights and apple orchards.

Day 12: Fly Jomsom to Pokhara

A scenic morning flight brings you back to Pokhara, which completes the adventure.
