Langtang valley trekking - 10 days trek cost guide and route information
Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,460 m)
Drive for about 7–8 hours through terraced hills, rivers,
and small settlements. Syabrubesi is a lively town, the gateway to the Langtang
trek. Spend the evening in preparation for the trail ahead.
Day 2: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,470 m)
Start your trek following the Langtang Khola, crossing
suspension bridges and trekking through thick forests of oak, rhododendron, and
bamboo. The trek gradient varies, and it includes several ups and downs before
finally reaching Lama Hotel-a tranquil rest village.
Day 3: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3,430 m)
Follow a path that ascends gently through lush vegetation,
until the valley opens up. Pass Ghodatabela, where the landscape changes to
alpine terrain. Continue to Langtang Village, the settlement rich in Tamang
culture rebuilt after the earthquake in 2015.
Day 4: Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m)
A short but beautiful day's walk through yak pastures and
prayer wheels takes you to Kyanjin Gompa. Explore the ancient monastery and
local cheese factory and enjoy views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks.
Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Kyanjin
Spend the day exploring higher viewpoints. Popular hikes
include Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m) or Tserko Ri (4,984 m), each offering spectacular
panoramas of Himalayan giants, glaciers, and the Langtang Valley.
Day 6: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel
Retrace your steps through the valley, enjoying a relaxed
descent and changing mountain perspectives. Arrive at Lama Hotel by late
afternoon.
Day 7: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2,260 m)
Drop down to the river and start the climb up to Thulo
Syabru, a beautiful village with traditional houses and terraced farmland.
Day 8: Thulo Syabru to Dhunche (2,030 m)
Follow a pleasant forested trail, with a chance to view some
wildlife such as the red panda and some Himalayan birds. Arrive in Dhunche, the
headquarters of Rasuwa District.
Day 9: Drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu
It takes 6–7 hours of scenic driving back to Kathmandu. On
the way, enjoy beautiful mountain views and rural landscapes.
Spend this buffer day at leisure, exploring cultural sites,
doing some souvenir shopping, or recovering before flying out of Nepal.
