gateway to Upper Mustang. In the afternoon, explore its narrow alleys,
monasteries, and fortress-like architecture.
Day 2: Kagbeni to Chele (3,050 m)

fields of Tangbe village before arriving at Chele, where the landscape starts
to get more arid and dramatic.

impressive views of Tilicho Peak and Nilgiri. Descend to Samar and continue
through desert canyons to Syangboche.

The day comprises several ups and downs over high passes
like Yamada La; traditional villages and ancient mani walls can be visited.
Arrive in Ghami, well-known for its long mani wall and red cliffs.

Walk through fields and then cross a suspension bridge
before climbing towards Tsarang. This historic town has an old palace, large
monastery, and great views of the expansive valley.

first views of walled city Lo Manthang, former capital of Mustang and
definitely one of the trek's key attractions.

and Jampa, the royal palace, and the traditional settlement. Optional trips
include Chhoser caves and local villages around.

Start the return journey via a different route. Hike through
deserted canyons and colorful cliffs to Dhakmar, which has striking red rock
formations.

Sometimes the area around is subjected to fierce afternoon winds, so early
starts are advantageous.

ranges. Pass by Samar, and then descend further to Chhusang.

the Kali Gandaki River downstream to Jomsom where you stay overnight.
Day 12: Fly Jomsom to Pokhara
Fly back to Pokhara in the morning and end the trek.
This Upper Mustang itinerary mixes adventure, culture, and
breathtakingly beautiful desert-mountain scenery. With ancient monasteries,
unique landscapes, and the fascinating city of Lo Manthang, it remains one of
