Famous for its spectacular sunrise view over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, charming Gurung and Magar villages, and rhododendron forests, this trek offers rich cultural and natural experiences in just a few days. The following 6–7-day itinerary provides a comfortable pace suitable for beginners, families, or trekkers with limited time.

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, Trek to Tikhedhunga (1,540 m)

Begin with a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. The trail follows the Modi Khola and passes through Birethanti, a bustling riverside settlement. The gentle walk continues through terraced farmland and small Gurung villages. By afternoon, you gradually climb toward Tikhedhunga, a peaceful stop surrounded by forested hills and rivers.

Day 2: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,860 m)

This is one of the trek’s more challenging days due to the famous Ulleri staircase, consisting of more than 3,000 stone steps. After reaching Ulleri village, the trail becomes gentler and continues through dense rhododendron forests—especially vibrant in spring. You pass by small settlements like Banthanti and Nangethanti before reaching Ghorepani, a traditional Magar village with stunning mountain views.

Day 3: Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210 m) Sunrise, Trek to Tadapani (2,630 m)

Start before dawn for the sunrise hike to Poon Hill. This viewpoint is one of Nepal’s most celebrated, offering sweeping panoramas of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, and Nilgiri. After enjoying the sunrise and taking photos, descend back to Ghorepani for breakfast. The trail to Tadapani passes through mystical forests and open ridges. Tadapani provides excellent views and a cozy village atmosphere.

Day 4: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,940 m)

Descend through lush forests rich in birdlife as you approach the culturally vibrant Gurung village of Ghandruk—one of the largest in the region. Explore the traditional stone-paved alleys, visit the Gurung Museum, and enjoy spectacular views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. Ghandruk is a cultural highlight of the trek, offering homely hospitality and beautiful architecture.

Day 5: Ghandruk to Nayapul, Drive to Pokhara

The trail descends gradually through villages, terraced fields, and forests toward Kimche or Nayapul. After a relaxed walk with plenty of mountain views, meet your vehicle and drive back to Pokhara for a lakeside evening.

Optional Extended Itinerary (6–7 Days)

Day 6: Add an extra night in Ulleri or Ghorepani for a slower pace.

Day 7: Explore Pokhara’s attractions like the Peace Pagoda, Phewa Lake boating, or a spa day.
