The Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most beautiful short
treks in Nepal, with views of the Himalayas, Tamang culture, and rich
biodiversity. Situated north of Kathmandu, the 10-day trip follows forests of
rhododendron and bamboo, traditional villages, and the spectacular alpine
valley of Kyanjin Gompa
Cost Overview
The cost for a
10-day trek in Langtang generally ranges from USD 800 to 100 per person,
including the guide, porter, accommodation, meals, transport, and permits when
booked through an agency. Independent trekkers can complete it for about USD 600
to 800, depending on style. Recently, the entry fee for Langtang National Park
was NPR 3,000 (about USD 25) per person, and the TIMS card is issued at a cost
of NPR 2,000 (about USD 20) per head. Accommodation in tea houses costs around USD
5–10 per night, while meals start at USD 7–12 each. A licensed guide costs
approximately USD 30 a day, and a porter will cost around USD 25 per day.
Transport from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of this trek, costs
about USD 10 by bus and 120–150 USD by private jeep.

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,460 m).
Day 3: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,470 m).
Day 4: Trek to Langtang Village (3,430 m).
Day 5: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m)
Day 6: Acclimatization; optional hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773
m) or Tserko Ri (5,033 m).
Day 7: Return to Lama Hotel
Day 8: Trek back to Syabrubesi.
Day 9: Drive to Kathmandu.
Day 10: Departure. Highlights: The trek offers spectacular
views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Ganesh Himal. Truly unforgettable is
the cultural warmth of the Tamang people, the ancient monastery at Kyanjin
Gompa, and local yak cheese factories that fall along the journey. The best
seasons for this moderate yet rewarding Himalayan adventure are spring, between
March and May, and autumn, from September to November.
