   Janakpur Nepal is a center for religious and cultural tourism which is located 225 km south-east of Kathmandu. The city was founded in the 18th century .Janakpur is one of the most important cultural and religious cities in Nepal, lying in the southeastern part of the country within the district of Dhanusha. The city is located in the fertile plains of Terai, about 225 kilometers southeast of Kathmandu, and serves as the administrative center of Madhesh Province. Historically, spiritually, and culturally, the city remains profoundly important, especially to Hindus.Janakpur is identified as the ancient city of Mithila, the capital of the Kingdom of King Janaka, the father of Goddess Sita, who is revered as the consort of Lord Rama in the Hindu epic *Ramayana*. According to mythology, it was here that Lord Rama and Goddess Sita were married, making Janakpur a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus from Nepal, India, and beyond.

   The most striking landmark in the city is the Janaki Temple, a marvelous marble structure constructed in 1911. Its architecture features an optimum blend of Mughal and Koiri styles. Thousands of devotees visit it, particularly during the festivals of Vivah Panchami and Ram Navami, celebrating the divine marriage and birth of Lord Rama. Other notable sites include the Ram Mandir, Dhanush Sagar, and Ganga Sagar ponds, associated with various other Ramayana legends.Besides its religious heritage, Janakpur is a bustling center of Mithila art and culture. The traditional Madhubani paintings, colorful attire, folk songs, and festivals mirror the age-old traditions of the Maithili people. The local food delicacies like puri, tarkari, and sweets such as peda add to its charisma.
