   Indian prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday performed a special puja at pashupatinath temple offering 2500kg sandalwood worth Rs 30 million. He also announced an assistance of RS 250 million for the conservation of the Hindu shrine. Modi who appeared in his saffron dress remained on the temple premises for 45 minutes as a crowd of pilgrims waited outside to greet him and Musiciansplayed notes to honour his pilgrimage . His offering included special puja worth Rs 27000,and Basuki puja worth RS 5100. The temple provisions pilgrims to make special offerings ranging from Rs 1,100 to Rs million. He wrote on the visitors book that pashupatinath was the power centre of belief anfd treust. I wish that the blessings of pashupatinath will unite both Nepal And India . Felt extremely blessed on offering prayers at the pashupatinath temple this morning he tweeted immediately after. Even before coming to nepal he had expressed his excitement about visiting the shrine. AN importance of my Nepal visit is that I will get the opportunity to pay homage to Lord pashupatinath on a Monday of the shrawan month he shrawan month he had tweeted earlier His anticipation about the pilgrimage echoed also in his parliamentary address on Sunday when he had visited pashupatinath as a commoner. Modi is now listed among the high profile pilgrims at Pashupatinath including Indian dignitary Rvenkataraman Ik gujral PB Narsigha Rao and jaswant singh . Gobinda tandon member secretary of the pashupati Area Development Trust said they were privileged to host the Indian PM.
