Gokyo, Chola - Pass EBC Trek

Gokyo, Chola - Pass EBC Trek
Gokyo, Chola -Pass EBC & Kalapatthar Trek
Gokyo Chola Pass Everest Base Camp Trekking is one of the most adventurous trekking routes in Everest region. Sometime Gokyo Chola Pass Everest Base Camp trekking trail is also known as Everest Circuit trekking. It follows the route via high pass called Chola Pass at 5330meters into Everest Base Camp. This trek begins from Lukla. After one day acclimatization in Namche bazaar it follows all the way to Gokyo Lake. After you reach Gokyo Lake you climb Gokyo Ri (5480m) and from top of Gokyo Ri you enjoy stunning summit mountain scenery including Everest, Makalu and Cho Oyo. Then following day you cross Chola Pass ((5330m) and reach at Dzongla. After Dzongla you move towards Gorakshep and ascent to Kalapathar (5545m) from where you enjoy an impressive up-close view of Mt. Everest. Then next day you trek to Everest Base Camp. Your return route passes through Tyangboche, a place where a famous magnificent monastery is located. We take a rest there and savor the incredible scenery enchaning views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Kangega, Mt. Kwangde, Mt. Nuptse etc and back to Lukla airport. On the next morning you take flight to Kathmandu.

Gokyo Lake Trekking

Gokyo Lake Trekking
Gokyo Lake trekking gives an alternative to the traditional Everest base camp trekking. Gokyo Lake Trekking also starts from Lukla after half an hour mountain flight from Kathmandu following up the Dudh Koshi River towards Namche, the gateway of Khumbu region. After Namche you branch off from the main busy trail towards the sleepy village of Phortse Tenga and finally reach to our ultimate destination Gokyo Lake passing Dole and Machhermo. Climbing Gokyo Ri (5357m) close to Gokyo Lake offers spectacular views of Mt. Everest and other three 8000 meter peaks (Mt. Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu). From here you can also see the largest glacier in Nepal named Ngozumpa. Apart from them the view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas of Gokyo Lake Trekking. From Gokyo Lake there are many options for high altitude walking including crossing of Cho La pass and Rengo La pass however you will not cross those passes. Rather you return back to Lukla via the same previous route. This trek is indeed a less crowded than the Everest Base Camp trekking.

Island Peak (6189m)

Island Peak (6189m) is the most popular trekking peak in Nepal. Island peak climbing with Everest base camp trekking is a wonderful adventurous trip. The local name of this peak is Imja Tse. It is an isolated peak in Chhukung valley. Actually this peak is extension of Mt. Lhotse Shar and is located between Mt Lhotse and Imja glaciers.  It involves one steep and exposed 100 m ice or snow climb, otherwise a non technical snow climb. Although the summit can be reached on a single day, we stay at high camp one night at its south west ridge to ensure the success. Climbing this peak offers stunning views of huge south face of Mt. Lhotse (8,501m), Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) in the north, Mt. Makalu (8475m) and Mt. Amadablam (6856m) in the east with beautiful  sight Khumbu region and Chhukung valley. In this trip first of all we trek first towards Everest Base Camp, Kalapathar then go Chhukung valley and start climbing. For climbing this peak it does not compulsory to have formal climbing training. Any trekkers with good physical health can easily do it.
