Trekking in Nepal one of the best things that will take you closer to the nature in the heart of Himalaya. Since the ancient time, Nepal was always known as the land of Shangri-La. Eight out of fifteen mountain over eight thousand meters are located in Nepal. Mt Everest is the tallest mountain on planet earth is also located in Nepal. These mountains fed the Himalaya with rushing river and stream which are the lifeline for more than billion lives. Himalaya is located in the north of Nepal stretching from east to west between 1100KM bordering with Tibet in the north and Ease, West & South with India. Kanchenjunga region is located in the far eastern part of Nepal. Mt Kanchenjunga 8586m/28169 is the tallest mountain of this region. The trekking to the base camp of Mt Kanchenjunga is famous among the trekkers who are willing to explore the unspoiled off the beaten trail. This region is inhabited by Rai and Limbu ethnic group. These ethnic group people are rich in culture, custom and tradition and the way of life are really interesting. Kanchenjunga base camp trek, Limbu cultural trek, Pathivara trek are the famous trek that can be done in Kanchenjunga region.
Makalu region is located in the eastern part of Nepal between Kanchenjunga region and Everest region. Mt Makalu 8485m/27838ft is the tallest mountain of this region. Mt Makalu is the fourth highest mountain in Nepal and fifth highest in the world. The trekking to the base camp of Mt Makalu definitely would be the unique experience. The trail to Makalu base camp is very virgin and unspoiled for sure it will take you to the real surreal place. The lower terrain of this region is inhabited by Sherpa and Rais thus we can see their culture, custom, tradition and way of lives during the trek. Arun valley trek, Makalu Base camp trek and Milke danda trek are the famous treks that we can do in this region.
Everest region is located in the eastern part of Nepal between Rolwaling and Makalu region. Mt Everest 8850m/29029ft is the tallest mountain in the world. The trekking to Mt Everest region is the unique experience for all explorers from the world. The journey to Everest base camp is known as the most visit place on planet earth. This Everest region is famous for Sherpa people and their culture, monk and monastery, yak and yeti. There are several different treks that we can do in the highland of Everest region and the Lower Everest region. Everest Base Camp trek is the most famous trek of this region.
Gaurishankar region is also known as Rolwaling region. Mt Gaurishankar is the tallest mountain of this region its height is 7134m/23406ft. It is located between Langtang region and Everest region. This region is famous for its uniqueness and unspoiled territory. This region is inhabited by Tamang and Sherpas famous for mountaineering and their rich culture, ritual and custom. There are few treks that we can do in this region are Rolwaling trek, Tsho Rolpa lake trek, Tashi Lapcha Rolwaling trek.
Langtang region is located in the north of Kathmandu which is famous for holy lakes, towering peaks, red panda and unique Tamang people and their culture. The tallest mountain of this region is Langtang Lirung 7227m/23734ft. The journey to Langtang region could be the unique experience. This region is inhabited by Tamang people which are one of the major indigenous communities of Nepal. We can do several treks in this region called Panch Pokhari trek, Langtang Helambu trek, Gosaikunda lake trek, Tamang heritage trek and Langtang valley trek.
Ganesh Himal region is located in the north west of Kathmandu between Langtang and Manaslu region. This region is famous for its unique landscape as well as the towering mountain. The tallest mountain from this region is Ganesh Himal 7422m/24350ft. This region is inhabited by Tamang and Gurung people famous for their culture and custom. Ruby valley trek, Ganesh Himal trekking are the famous trek that can be done in this region both are camping and home stay based trekking.
Manaslu region
Manaslu region is located in the west-central part of Nepal. Mt Manaslu 8163m/26781ft is the tallest peak in Manaslu region and it’s the eighth highest mountain in the world. This region is famous for its unique landscape as well as the culture of local ethnic group living in the highland of Tshum valley is amazing. Manaslu circuit trek is one of the most famous and renown journey in this region. Manaslu circuit trek, Bhimtang trek, Lower Manaslu trek, Manaslu – Tshum valley trek are the famous trek from this region.
Annapurna region
Dhaulagiri region is located between Annapurna in the east and Dolpo in the North West. Mt Dhaulagiri 8167m/26795ft is the tallest peaks from this region and it’s a seventh tallest mountain in the world and sixth tallest in Nepal. This region is inhabited by Magars, Thakalis, Brahmin, and Dalits. The journey to Dhaulagiri base camp could be the memories journey of a lifetime. The famous trek that you can do in this region are Dhaulagiri circuit trek, Dhaulagiri Base camp trek, Dhaulagiri Sanctuary trek, Dhaulagiri icefall trek.
Dolpo region is located in the western part of Nepal at the north west of Mt Dhaulagiri. Dolpo region is very special to visit as there are many ancient monasteries, beautiful landscape as it’s located in the rain shadow area of Mt Dhaulagiri thus its remains dry. The deepest lake of Nepal Phoksundo is also in this region. There are so many things to explore in this region. There are few different treks that we can do in the Dolpo region.
Far west region
This region is located in the far western region on the northern side. Far western region of Nepal is very unique as well as unspoiled. The journey to far western mountain region can be really interesting and worthy. The Khas Nepali people are the indigenous people in this territory. There are several destinations for trekking in this region which are mention below: - Rara lake trek (biggest lake of Nepal), Khaptad trekking etc.
