Losar Festival


 


The Losar festival is the new year of Sherpa and Tibetan. The Losar festival celebrate ingenious group of Tamang , Gurung , Sherpa and Tibetan people. The each ethnic group has different day and month to celebrate the Losar festival. This year the Sherpa and Tibetan peoples are celebrated Losar festival on March 07.
In Losar festival the monks are performing   in Swayambunatha  stupa. The lamas and monks in monastery perform a week long Nahankal Puja (worshiping ceremony) defilements of the proceeding of year. In two days before the new moon from one o, clock in the afternoon costumed monks at Swayambunath carry out a large idol representing the old year and tote it through the great stupa complex and farther down around the two knolls of Swayambunath hill which is called Bajra Hill. The head Lama Rimboche fatherly conduct the rites accompanied by intermittent drumming and horn blowing by monks all along the ridge. After the ritual worship the idol is afire then   returns to the main stupa and perform additional ceremony right before the Gompa which is nearly ends with the mass hurling of barley flour know as champs.

Now days the Lhosar festival celebration is appear in privately. The fourth of morning people appears in Bauddhanath  stupa with colorful dress and ornament with villagers who  is living Kathmandu valley before long time. Also they performs group dance and they will share greeting and wishes of happiness and prosperous each other  
The Tibetans people celebrate Losar own way and customs. They escort the large image of fourteenth Dalai Lama by monks and they put at the first level of great stupa. The monk  belief the Dalai Lama is the living god of Buddha.
